West Brom have joined Bournemouth and Newcastle United in expressing an interest in signing QPR winger Matt Phillips, according to a report from Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail.

Bournemouth’s path to signing the 24-year-old looks to be the most clear as both Newcastle and West Brom have some stumbling blocks in their paths.

The Magpies are chasing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur and England winger Andros Townsend and only see Phillips as a backup option if they can’t land their main target.

West Brom, meanwhile, can only bring in players if Tony Pulis generates his own cash with sales, and whilst it looks like Saido Berahino is likely to be sold, a deal does not look imminent.

Therefore, Eddie Howe and Bournemouth have an opportunity to get a deal done before the other interest parties can make a move.

According to Ashton’s report, QPR are looking for around £7million for Phillips, who has five goals and three assists in 27 Championship games this season.
