The Baggies failed to earn their first double over local rivals Aston Villa for 42 years as the sides shared the points in a goalless draw at the Hawthorns.
The game lacked quality from both teams and did not live up to the fiery expectations born from the type of full-blooded encounter that this fixture usually produces.
The visitors were undoubtedly the better side but they failed to create any clear-cut chances. They did have a shout for a first-half penalty when Jonas Olsson brought down Jordan Ayew, but referee Bobby Madley waved away their appeals.
