West Bromwich Albion completed their second deal of the January transfer window this morning bringing in Spurs midfielder Alex Pritchard on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old becomes Albion’s second loan signing of the window after they also signed Sandro until the end of the season.
We’ve decided like we did with Sandro to pick out 5 reasons why Alex Pritchard is a good signing for West Brom. Are you happy with the loan signing of Pritchard? Let us know in the comments below.
He covers Morrison's injury
Morrison’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Albion. He was the best performing player and then the damaging news came that he was out for 2 months. Pritchard effectively becomes a like for like replacement in the attacking midfield for Morrison.
He's versatile
As mentioned in the previous slide Pritchard can play as an attacking midfielder. Not only that he can also play as a centre midfielder or on either wing. It gives Albion great options especially with the lack of depth on the wings.
He scores goals!
A goalscoring midfielder, they do exist! Pritchard has a very decent goalscoring record from midfield. He managed to score 12 in 45 league games while on loan at Brentford last season.
International experience
Pritchard has represented the England youth teams 12 times and has a lot of potential. This includes playing alongside Albion striker Saido Berhaino for the England Under-21 team.
It's low risk like Sandro
There’s nothing to lose in the deal for Albion. It’s a short term deal for a low fee and covers the injuries in the squad. At the end of the season, he’ll return to Spurs whether he’s done good or bad at The Hawthorns.
