Well, at least, we finally got some excitement. Even though Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay against Peterborough was hardly ideal preparation for Saturdays encounter with the Toffees, it was a thrilling contest and a great advert for FA Cup football. Unfortunately progression into round five of the FA Cup has come at a huge cost. McCauley limped off barely fifteen minutes into the game to add to an ever-growing injury list and the fact the game went all the way to a penalty shootout undoubtedly left Pulis feeling exasperated.

I can imagine the Everton fans have felt frustrated somewhat this season. On their day, they play some really slick football and are capable of beating the very best but they have been inconsistent throughout the campaign so far and have really struggled in front of their own fans. I feel however that due to our injury ridden squad and Wednesdays arduous encounter with Peterborough I can’t see anything other than an Everton win this weekend and would be amazed if we managed to away from Merseyside with something to show for it. I just hope the Pulis and the players prove me wrong.
