Former West Brom striker John Hartson has told TalkSport that Albion fans are currently experiencing a similar set of circumstances to what West Ham supporters went through when they were managed by Sam Allardyce.
[West Brom’s current predicament is] similar to the West Ham situation under Sam Allardyce. Sam almost guarantees you safety in the Premier League, but the West Ham fans will say ‘we’re not bothered about that, we want to see good football’.
Like Allardyce, Tony Pulis has a track record of keeping sides in the Premier League, but the style of play that his team uses is not really pleasing on the eye.
Pulis cast uncertainty over his future last week when he said that he’ll have a conversation with the chairman at the end of the season and it’s fair to say that many Albion fans would not be too sad to see him leave.
Whilst speaking on the radio show, Hartson understood both sides of the argument. The West Brom board will be eager for the Baggies to stay in the top division with TV revenues set to sky-rocket, but the fans who pay their hard-earned cash to follow the team want to be entertained.
