Striker turns down contract offer from West Brom
West Brom striker Saido Berahino has turned down the chance to sign a new contract at the club, which makes a departure from the club all-but-certain this summer.
Everybody remembers the saga from last summer when Tottenham tried to sign the now 22-year-old striker; it resulted in him threatening to never play for Albion again.
He did, of course, go back on that statement and play a role for Tony Pulis’s side last season, but it’s fair to say his impact wasn’t as great as it had been the year before.
Berahino is about to enter the final year of his deal with Albion and according to the Birmingham Mail, he was offered a chance to extend that by a further four years, but chose not to do that.
West Brom must now decide between three options; offer him another contract with better terms for the player, sell him this summer or lose him next summer on a free transfer with a tribunal deciding how much Albion receive in compensation.
