Baggies have £9m Schlupp bid rejected
West Brom have had a bid for Jeffrey Schlupp rejected by Leicester City as Tony Pulis continues his attempts to strengthen his squad.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Pulis and co. have been set back in their attempts to sign the Premier League winner for £9m.
Having lifted the trophy with the Foxes last season, Schlupp has come under some interest from a number of fellow Premier League clubs.
The former Manchester United trialist is an incredibly versatile player, being able to play at left-back, left sided midfield or even as a striker.
This versatility is said to appeal to the Baggies manager, who wants to try and improve the left side of his team.
Confidence seems low in Sebastien Pocognoli, with Schlupp – who made 24 appearances last season – a clear improvement on the Belgian.
Claudio Ranieri, judging by the rejected bid, appears to have plans for Schlupp this campaign, however.
It’s unclear whether an improved bid will be made, but with Leicester receiving bids for a number of players already this summer, they may be reluctant to sell.
Albion may now have to turn their attention to alternatives.
Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor is one option and, despite Leeds manager Garry Monk saying he’s not for sale, the club might well test the Yorkshire club’s resolve with a bid.
