Albion join Sunderland in race for striker
West Brom have joined fellow Premier League side Sunderland in declaring an interest in signing Lorient striker Benjamin Moukandjo, according to a report from Simon Jones of The Mail.
The 27-year-old scored 13 goals in 31 Ligue 1 games last season and he has apparently caught the eye of Albion’s recruitment staff.
With Saido Berahino and Rickie Lambert looking likely to depart this summer, West Brom need to find some new additions in forward areas and Moukandjo has apparently been identified as a possible target.
Lorient apparently value the Cameroonian international at £10million, which is well within Albion’s price range.
The Baggies have also been linked with a move for West Ham’s Diafra Sakho, who has handed in a transfer request at the Hammers and refused to go on the club’s pre-season tour.
He’s also being linked with a move to Sunderland and Crystal Palace.
Whether a deal for Moukandjo would be in addition to, or instead of a move for the Senegalese star is unknown at this time.
Of course, Sunderland are now managerless after Sam Allardyce’s appointment to the England job, so Albion may have an advantage over them if they can get a deal agreed quickly
