West Brom confirm interest in Rodriguez
West Brom have confirmed their interest in out-of-favour Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Rodriguez, 27, has failed to recapture the form he showed at the start of the 2013/14 season, which earned him a place in the England squad, since coming back from a long-term injury.
As a result, he has been dropped from the squad under Claude Puel and is expected to leave the club on loan before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
Hull, who have just 11 fully-fit senior players, have also expressed their interest in the former England international.
However, the Birmingham Mail understands that West Brom are close to tying up a deal to sign Rodriguez for the 2016/17 campaign.
Rodriguez would become the club’s third signing of the summer, following Matt Phillips and Brendan Galloway, who is on loan from Everton.
Although, the Baggies will need reassurances on the fitness of Rodriguez, who has made just 12 appearances in the last two seasons.
