Cristian Gamboa completes Celtic move
Celtic have completed the signing of defender Cristian Gamboa from Premier League side West Brom.
The transfer was confirmed by the official club website, as the Costa Rican put pen to paper on a three-year-deal for a reported fee of £1 million.
Gamboa has been shunned from the Baggies squad as Tony Pulis opted to play centre-backs as full-backs instead, and has made just 17 appearances since signing in the summer of 2014.
He has been capped 50 times in all competitions for his country, and rose to prominence in Costa Rica’s 2014 World Cup run that included wins over Uruguay and Italy in the group stages.
Gamboa was brought in by Rosenborg in 2012 on loan and later signed permanently as a replacement for Mikael Lustig at right-back, and will now challenge the Swede for a starting role in Rodgers’ side.
Celtic have already signed Moussa Dembele, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Dorus de Vries and Rodgers will look to add one more player before the window closes on Wednesday night.
