Serie A side join West Brom in race for Chamakh
West Bromwich Albion are not alone in the race to sign former Arsenal, West Ham United and Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh – with interest from Serie A threatening to derail Tony Pulis’ plans to give his squad a boost.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sportsmole), Palermo are keen on signing the 32-year-old Moroccan, who has been on trial with the Baggies.
Tony Pulis is thought to be keen on offering Chamakh a short-term contract to bring him to the Hawthorns until January – but Palermo, who have scored just once in the league this season, are seeking reinforcements up front and could be a good prospect for Chamakh.
The pink-kitted Italians can offer a change of style for the forward, who has spent his last six years playing Premier League football after eight years at French side Bordeaux.
Chamakh played for France at under-19 level but ultimately ended up playing for Morocco at senior level, and he has scored 18 goals in 65 appearances for his national side.
