West Brom midfielder, Craig Gardner’s move to Birmingham City is nearing completion, as per the Birmingham Mail.

Gardner is set to undergo a medical today at Wast Hills with the move suspected to be finalised by the end of the day.

The midfielder will reportedly re-sign for his former club on a loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

Gardner left Birmingham in 2011 for Sunderland after spending a year at St Andrews, where he helped the club lift the League Cup, by beating Arsenal.

He has struggled to hold down a place in Tony Pulis’ side this season, making just nine appearances in all competitions.

His return to St Andrew’s will be an emotional one for Gardner, who is a Birmingham City fan.

It is also likely to re-invigorate the fans who were left angered by the departure of Gary Rowett following the club’s takeover, as Gianfranco Zola took over at the helm.
