Tony Pulis recently admitted that West Brom have been priced out of a move for Watford’s Odion Ighalo with the Hornets wanting too much money for him.
It’s widely accepted that Albion are in the market for another striker having sold Saido Berahino to Stoke City and with them unable to afford their first target, they’ll now switch their attention elsewhere.
But who will they look at?
Time will tell, but we’ve decided to play Director of Football too and we’ve come up with a few players who we think Albion could realistically attract to the Hawthorns, all at a fairly reasonable price too (£15m and under).
So, have a look through and tweet us @ReadWestBrom with the one you’d most like to see, or with any players you think we might have missed:
Leonardo Ulloa
Leonardo Ulloa is keen to leave Leicester City after being knocked down the pecking order after the arrival of Islam Slimani and should be available this month.
Ross McCormack
Ross McCormack could be on his way out of Aston Villa and although he wouldn’t be a first-choice option at Albion, he’d be a decent enough back-up option.
Jordan Rhodes
Jordan Rhodes is being linked with a move to Aston Villa but West Brom could look to hijack that if they deemed his good enough. Again, he’d not be a every week starter at Albion but he has a good record when called upon.
Manolo Gabbiadini
Manolo Gabbiadini has been linked with numerous clubs this month, including Albion. Napoli reportedly rejected a £13m bid from Southampton recently, but as the window comes to a close, they might decide to cash in on him for a price around the £15m mark.
Scott Hogan
Scott Hogan has been in great form for Brentford and looks set to leave this month. West Ham are the favourites to get him for around £15m, but Albion could look to hijack that deal too.
Chris Wood
Albion have lived the Chris Wood experience before but he’s a much better player now than he was at West Brom. After a very unsettled career, he’s found a home at Leeds and is scoring for fun.
Robbie Keane
Robbie Keane is a free agent and is looking for a club in England. At 36, this signing would be a very short-term one but Keane could add something to the squad until the summer where Albion could look at other targets.
