Player Ratings – West Ham 2-2 West Brom
West Brom went into their game against West Ham knowing they couldn’t move out of eighth place regardless of the result, but they could concede ground to their opponents on the day who were one play and five points behind them.
Tony Pulis fielded the same team at the London Stadium that beat Stoke last time out in the Premier League and for the third straight game the Baggies opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Nacer Chadli capitalised on a defensive error to finish beyond Darren Randolph.
Despite some resolute defending, West Brom’s back four were caught napping when Sofiane Feghouli reacted quickest to prod home from close range after Manuel Lanzini’s effort was initially saved by Ben Foster.
It was a backs against the wall effort for the Baggies as the Hammers grew into the game in the second half and they snatched what looked like a winner when Lanzini again took a pot-shot from distance which had the beating of Foster three minutes from time.
However, deep into injury time, Jonny Evans rose highest to get on the end of a Chris Brunt corner and headed goalwards but it was Gareth McAuley’s final touch which salvaged a point for Pulis and co.
