West Brom are enjoying life in eighth place in the Premier League, well adrift of any supposed relegation scrap and with faint dreams of European football for next season.

The planning for the future never stops, though, and the Baggies have taken talented young winger Myles Phipps on a week long trial, the Birmingham Mail report.

Phipps, 18, plays for Paget Rangers in the Midland Football League and will spend this week training with the Baggies’ development squad with a view to a permanent transfer.

A number of clubs have reportedly been making checks on Phipps following a great season with Paget Rangers but the Baggies are taking the first proper look at his talent and what he can offer.

West Brom have a number of scouts keeping an eye on non-league football currently as they look to spot the next unknown talent who can possibly make the leap to professional football.

The likes of Jamie Vardy and Michail Antonio both made their names in non-league before working up the Football League pyramid and into starring roles for Premier League clubs.
