While at the end of the season the club will undoubtedly look back and deem this a hugely successful campaign and one for the club to build on next year, right now, West Brom are in a strange situation.

Marooned in eighth place in the Premier League, seven points adrift of Everton above them and seven points clear of Southampton below them, the Baggies may be a team struggling for motivation knowing they can’t really move out of their current position.

The visit of the Saints tomorrow will go a long way to deciding whether the Baggies can be caught as Southampton have two games in hand on West Brom and know that a win at the Hawthorns would put them in a strong position to eventually usurp Tony Pulis’ side for a top eight finish.
