Salomon Rondon, on the whole, has been a successful buy for the Baggies since his arrival nearly two years ago, but of late he’s been struggling for goals and it’s no shock to learn that West Brom need to invest in another striker in the summer.

According to German source Bild, West Brom are among several clubs that are interested in signing Cologne forward Anthony Modeste in the summer.

The report claims that fellow Premier League outfits West Ham, Stoke and Burnley are all keen on signing the French striker ahead of next season, while there is some interest from the Chinese Super League.

Modeste is a former Blackburn loanee but failed to make an impact in the Premier League but has found a home in the Bundesliga with Cologne, netting 23 goals in 29 league appearances so far this season, the third-most in the division behind Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Bild claim that the Bundesliga outfit are looking for a fee in the region of €30m to €40m before even considering the 29-year-old’s sale in the summer, but it’s regarded as ‘not a problem’ for the Premier League sides keen.

Expected to command huge wages as well, a move for Modeste, who turned 30 before the start of next season, may not be the wisest move.
