Newcastle join Baggies in chase to sign English forward
Following their promotion back to the Premier League, Newcastle have joined West Brom in the race to sign Jay Rodriguez this summer.
The Daily Mail claim that both teams are keen to sign the Southampton forward after he has fallen out of favour at St Mary’s.
The Baggies had tried to sign the player during the January transfer window but due to an injury to Charlie Austin, Southampton decided to keep hold of the striker.
Rodriguez has two years remaining on his current deal at St Mary’s and is keen to move on to get his career back on track.
After only scoring five goals this season, a move away from Southampton may be the best option for what was once a blossoming career.
Newcastle will be hoping to add Premier League quality in what is bound to be a busy summer ahead of their return to the top flight.
