West Brom are reportedly targeting Portuguese side Sporting’s William Carvalho and have been given a boost as Sporting are considering selling him to get more money to invest in their squad.

Sporting want to keep hold of their other two stars Adrien Silva and Bas Dost but also want to generate funds to freshen up the squad and as such, they could be willing to let Carvalho leave, although they’d still be looking for around £32million, which would obviously smash West Brom’s transfer record.

Tony Pulis has been a long time admirer of the 25-year-old and tried to do a deal to buy him last summer but the asking price was simply too much for Albion to afford.

However, the head coach and his recruitment staff are expected to be given the largest transfer budget in the club’s history this summer as the new ownership look to improve the squad and try to get Albion closer to playing European football in the near future.
