Sporting CP are reportedly ready to negotiate a move away from the club for central defender Ruben Semedo, with West Brom claimed to be holding an interest.

According to a report from the printed edition of Portuguese news outlet A Bola today, as covered by Sport Witness recently, Semedo has been placed on the transfer list by the Primeira Liga side and is likely to seal a switch this summer.

Tony Pulis appears to be somewhat fond of Portuguese football and Sporting in particular, and given his need to add some youth to his current defensive options, the report interest in Semedo makes sense.

However, if Pulis is to seal the signing of the former Portugal Under-21 international, he and his recruitment team will need to fend off some competition from clubs elsewhere in England.

Everton are still holding an interest, while Newcastle have already reportedly initiated contact. Southampton have also been tracking Semedo for well over a year now.
