West Brom reportedly eyeing relegated defender
West Brom are reportedly holding an interest in Sunderland defender Lamine Kone as they look to bolster their options at the back.
According to a report from the Mirror this evening, West Ham are leading the race to sign Kone from the Black Cats, but Tony Pulis remains interested in landing him this summer.
The powerful centre back failed to convince in Sunderland’s wretched 16/17 season that saw them finish rock bottom, but Kone proved in the previous campaign that he has the makings of a solid defender.
Pulis is stated to have initially cast his attention towards signing Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool, but the move is looking highly unlikely given that the Reds value the France international at a staggering £30m.
The Baggies are actively looking to sign a new central defender this summer and with Kone sure to be keen on returning to the top flight next season, a move could be on the cards.
