West Brom have officially announced the signing of defender Ahmed Hegazi from Al Alhaly.

Albion have taken the 26-year-old on loan for the season and have the option to buy him at the end of the campaign.

The defender has flown to Hong Kong to meet up with his new teammates ahead of the Premier League’s Asia Trophy but it is not yet clear if he’ll be allowed to play as Albion need international clearance.

Speaking about the newest member of his squad, Albion head coach Tony Pulis said:

We’re pleased [Ahmed is] here, he’s a good addition. He’s got good pedigree and has played for some good clubs. Hopefully he’ll be a good signing for us. With it being a loan and, if he does well, we’ve already agreed a final deal. It’s really, really good for us.
