West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez says that he is feeling sharp ahead of the season opener against Bournemouth.
The Baggies face Bournemouth on Saturday in the Premier League, with Rodriguez at full fitness and raring to make his debut.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Rodriguez said this:
I can’t wait now.
I feel fit. I feel strong. I feel sharp.
It’s been tough but everything’s gone well in pre-season so I’m looking forward to getting started.
It’s going to be a good day on Saturday and hopefully I can get on the scoresheet.
Rodriguez signed for West Brom from Southampton earlier this summer in a £15m deal from the South Coast club.
The striker scored six goals in all competitions for Southampton last season, with five coming in the league.
The former Burnley man only started nine Premier League matches, making his return of five goals seem respectable. Although, he did feature a further 15 times off the bench.
Rodriguez signed for Southampton from Burnley for £7m in 2012, for whom he had scored 36 goals in the previous two seasons.
The Englishman went on to play 126 games for Southampton, scoring 35 goals in all competitions for the club.
