West Brom pull out of deal for Fenerbache midfielder
West Brom pulled out of a deal for Fenerbache midfielder Josef de Souza at the last minute, leaving de Souza ‘crazy’, according to Turkish outlet Sporx.
According to the report, a fee of €11.5m was agreed between the two clubs, and de Souza had even agreed personal terms with the Baggies. However, it is claimed that West Brom informed the Brazillian that the transfer deadline was too close to obtain a work permit for him. The 28-year-old holds an EU passport, and the report states that he believed a permit would not be required.
West Brom recently completed a deal to bring Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak to the club on a season-long loan from French giants PSG. The report suggests that this deal may have removed the need for West Brom to sign de Souza, and led to them backing out of the deal.
West Brom currently sit 5th in the Premier League, and face Brighton after the international break.
