Following his heroics with the Republic of Ireland in the recent international break, West Brom winger James McClean has received praise from manager Tony Pulis.
Sky Sports quote Pulis heaping the praise on the tricky winger, who has been in good form throughout the course of the season so far.
He won’t be playing for me, not after what he did to Wales! He’s done brilliantly and he’s a great lad. It was a great goal, great technique, on his right foot.
I think James gives his best. You watch him training – sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn’t play well – that’s like all players.
He is a great lad around the place and everyone has got great respect for him. He gives 100 per cent, week in, week out.
McClean played the decisive role in his country’s clash away at Wales, and scored the winning goal to help secure a place in the World Cup play-off rounds next month.
The Irishman has struggled to find his feet at clubs throughout his career but is currently in a rich vein of form, performing well on both a club and international level.
McClean will be hoping to carry this momentum into West Brom’s upcoming batch of fixtures, starting with their game against Leicester as the Premier League returns this weekend, with the Baggies in action on Monday against Leicester.
Pulis will hope that McClean and his men can help West Brom to overcome a somewhat shaky start to the season.
