A Riyad Mahrez goal ten minutes from time meant that West Brom left the King Power stadium with a point rather than the three it looked like they would take after Nacer Chadli put them ahead on the hour mark.
In a game that won’t be remembered as a classic, Albion and the Foxes battled hard for their points, although both will probably walk away from the game feeling like it was there to be won.
Here’s how I rated the Albion players in the game:
Boaz Myhill - 7
Showed great character to stay on after the collision with Jamie Vardy. His kicking wasn’t great but he dealt with most things pretty comfortably.
Craig Dawson - 7
Didn’t offer too much going forward but was solid in defence. Did well to clear Harry Maguire’s goal bound effort.
Ahmed Hegazi - 6
Struggled to cope with Jamie Vardy at first and had to be very careful after picking up his early booking. Looked more comfortable in the second half.
Jonny Evans - 6
Vardy caused the captain a few issues too but he looked his usual calm self for most of the game.
Kieran Gibbs - 7
Unlike Dawson, Gibbs did offer a very good attacking outlet. His positive running was a huge feature of the tie.
Gareth Barry - 6
Hit and miss. He lost the ball too easily at times and his passing looked off. However, he showed the odd moment of class, such as the lovely ball to Jay Rodriguez.
Grzegorz Krychowiak - 7
Another very good performance from the PSG man. He battled hard without the ball and looked very comfortable in possession too.
Jake Livermore - 6
Pretty good in terms of his defensive duties but struggled to provide any real moments of danger.
Nacer Chadli - 6
Looked extremely rusty at times, which is understandable. Deserves credit for his free-kick even if the goalkeeper made it look better than it was!
Jay Rodriguez - 5
Things just didn’t click for him, especially in the first half. Looked brighter after half-time but didn’t really look like scoring.
