It doesn’t look as though West Brom will be able to tie up a January deal with Manchester United for Michael Carrick.
According to a report from ESPN, as covered by the Birmingham Mail, the experienced midfielder is not looking to leave Old Trafford amid interest from several other clubs.
Carrick is regarded only as a backup option for Jose Mourinho at United, but is valued highly because of his experience and big game know-how.
West Brom were heavily linked with a move for Carrick as Tony Pulis looks to further bolster his midfield. However, it looks as though a move is unlikely, with the veteran hoping to remain at United for the duration of the campaign.
Carrick is currently earning his coaching badges at United, as he looks ahead to a career in football after his playing days come to and end.
West Brom are well stocked in the middle, but appear to be chasing more experience for their side.
