Liverpool’s Danny Ings linked with Hawthorns move
Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been reportedly linked with a loan move to West Brom in January for the rest of he season, as per Birmingham Mail.
New West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew was keen on signing Ings while he was boss of Newcastle United, however after Burnley’s relegation, the Englishman chose Anfield over St James’ Park.
However, since his move to Merseyside, he hasn’t been the luckiest player in the world when it comes to injuries, having suffered more than 18 months watching the Reds from the sidelines due to an ACL and a knee injury.
Ings is currently fighting fitness and wishes to fight for a place in Liverpool’s starting XI, but that will be more difficult considering the attack has Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge as well youngsters Ben Woodburn and Dominic Solanke.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to loan out the striker, who has only featured in the league for Liverpool U23’s this season. He hasn’t made a Premier League appearance since a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns on the last day of the 2015/16 season.
His last Premier League appearance before that was a 1-1 Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, in which he scored, but also turned out to be Brendan Rodgers’ last game in charge of Liverpool.
So if Ings were to move to West Brom, the Baggies would be getting a goalscorer, having been in a similar situation with Burnley a few seasons ago. However, his fitness and ability is yet to be seen. But he certainly can bring what is needed to guide West Brom up the table.
