The defender was on a season-long loan from Al Ahly, with an option to buy him permanently for £4.5m at any point before June 30th in 2018.
West Brom have exercised that right and completed the deal, with Hegazi signing a five-year contract with the Premier League outfit.
West Brom have made the decision to exercise it as early as possible and complete before the January transfer window.
Hegazi has impressed since joining the club and adapted to the Premier League quickly since his summer switch.
His most recent accomplishment was keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool, who have the Premier League’s top scorer – Mo Salah – although he was unable to prevent West Brom from losing 2-1 to Manchester United.
