West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he believes the club need to sign a prolific striker in the January transfer window to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, according to a report on the Daily Mail.
The Baggies are currently in 19th place in the league table and have only managed to find the back of the net 16 times in 22 matches, which is a real concern for Pardew.
Strikers Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez both scored in the easy FA Cup third-round victory over Exeter but Pardew is still not convinced by his current forwards.
Just trying to get them to be a bit more confident in themselves in and around the box. It is still the thing that needs to be rectified if we are to stay in the Premier League. I think we have scored 13 or 14. I’m afraid that is not good enough, we have got to score more goals.
West Brom are four points away from safety and although they are a pretty tight unit defensively, their attack has let them down massively so far this season.
Pardew is currently eyeing up a few strikers who he could recruit this month to help fire his side away from the bottom three places. Their next league match is a home clash with Brighton and Hove Albion, which is a must win for the Baggies.
