West Brom suffer blow in pursuit of Graham Potter
Ostersunds first team manager Graham Potter won’t be leaving to join West Brom, according to their chairman Daniel Kindberg, as reported by Express and Star.
Potter has done a brilliant job at the Swedish side and even guided them to a surprise 2-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates last night as his side bowed out of the Europa League 4-2 on aggregate.
The Englishman’s reputation has only been enhanced as a result of what he has done for the Swedish side and he looks like being one of the best up and coming managers around.
He’s not going anywhere. They (West Brom) cannot afford him. Should he go to a club then he will go to one of Europe’s big clubs. Why go to a small club in the first or second league, that’s useless. They kick the managers out every other week there. It does not work. He goes to a big club where they have class.
The 42-year-old has been linked with a move to take over from current Baggies boss Alan Pardew, who has really struggled to make an impact since coming in. According to reports, it’s something which the former Southampton player would be keen on.
Kindberg revealed that their manager would only leave the club if one of Europe’s top clubs came calling for him, but that seems somewhat unlikely at this stage given his inexperience.
