Three weeks ago following another inglorious defeat at the hands of Southampton it was reported that West Brom head coach Alan Pardew had two games to save his job.

Three weeks on having lost to Huddersfield and Watford, Pardew’s position looks precarious and was undermined further by another round of speculation suggesting that the club are only keeping him because there was no obvious alternative willing to step in.

By almost any measure Pardew’s tenure at West Brom has been nothing short of calamitous and there seems little point in retaining his services beyond the end of the season. There has been some suggestion that he might be given the opportunity to start next season but the team’s results have been so poor he has little to no credibility at the club.

It is a measure of how poor Albion’s season has been that I wrote a similar article prior to Tony Pulis’ dismissal last November.

A huge challenge awaits the next West Brom boss, but it remains a tempting and attracting position for any young coach. Here a few that could replace Pardew at the Hawthorns.
