Alan Pardew slaps a fine on midfielder after fresh bust-up
West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has imposed another disciplinary fine, this time on midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak for his angry reaction to being substituted, according to a report on the Mirror.
The Baggies boss has seen plenty of issues with his players’ behaviour and conduct since he took over at the club.
Krychowiak apologised for his angry reaction after being taken off but Pardew has still been stern on him and given him a fine for his actions.
The Polish international did not want to be substituted off in last week’s 4-1 loss to Leicester City at home but Pardew believes that his reaction was unacceptable.
The 28-year-old did not shake the hand of his manager and reportedly swore at him as he made his way to the dugout to take his seat for the final 30 minutes of the match.
Pardew said:
Grzegorz has come and apologised to me on Tuesday and to my staff, which is unusual. I said to him sometimes an apology is not enough so I have fined him. I also said I don’t ever want to see it again. The selection of the player won’t be influenced. I told him that how disappointed I was, fined him and we move on. I actually really like him as a person and as a footballer so I was surprised by his actions.
The Baggies are in serious relegation trouble and are currently eight points away from safety so incidents like this will not help the morale of the players and the fans.
