Jonny Evans keen to secure Manchester City switch
West Brom defender Jonny Evans is reportedly keen to join Manchester City this summer.
According to an exclusive report from the Mirror, the Northern Ireland international is set to turn down a move to Arsenal as he looks to link up with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Both the Gunners and the Citizens wanted to sign Evans in the previous two transfer windows but saw their attempts rebuffed, with the Baggies keen to retain the defender’s services.
However, Evans has a £3m release clause in his contract which depends on if West Brom go down and this now appears to be something of an inevitability.
The Baggies are firmly rooted to the foot of the Premier League table and as a result of this, Evans is set to be available on the cheap.
It’s claimed in the Mirror’s report that City came extremely close to landing Evans in the January transfer window, too. However, they were £2m away from meeting West Brom’s set valuation of the player.
