West Bromwich Albion travel to face Southampton on Saturday afternoon and we’ve decided to come up with a combined XI of the two teams. Both teams are on 27 points after 21 games and sit 12th and 13th in the league.
The rules are as follows;
6 picks for each side (11 players and a manager)
4-4-2 formation
Long-term injuries rule a player out of selection.
Take a look through the slideshow and let us know what you think of the team in the comments below.
GK - Fraser Forster
Recently returned from a long-term injury but kept a clean sheet on his first game back against an inform Watford side.
RB - Craig Dawson
Dawson has been Mr Consistent for the Albion this season and is easily the best right back between the two sides.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
The 24-year-old is a great talent and has plenty of years ahead of him. He’s also adapeted well to the Premier League after moving from Celtic.
CB - Jonny Evans
One of the signings of the season. He’s been outstanding at the back for the Baggies and is yet to have a bad game under Tony Pulis.
LB - Ryan Bertrand
Bertrand takes the left back spot meaning 4/5th’s of the combined defence is from the UK. Has looked very good out Southampton since moving from Chelsea.
RM- Saido Mane
The Senagal international has been a hit in the Premier League with plenty of big clubs interested. Has it all with pace power and an eye for goal.
CM - Darren Fletcher
The Albion captain has been in great form recently and is showing that Manchester United were wrong to let him go.
CM - James Ward Prowse
Another great young English talent. You feel the sky is the limit for Ward-Prowse at just the age of 21.
LM - James McClean
Another superb summer signing. McClean has been in great form recently which saw him score the equaliser at Chelsea on Wednesday night.
ST - Shane Long
He’s played for both teams and is in great form at the moment. A no brainer for the combined XI.
ST - Saido Berahino
He’s controversial but he’s also a great striker. Looks like he’s starting to turn his form around and giving his all for the club again.
Manager - Tony Pulis
With his wealth of Premier League experience Pulis takes charge of the combined XI.
