West Bromwich Albion travel to Peterborough on Wednesday evening for a 4th round FA Cup replay. The first leg ended 2-2 after Peterborough struck a late equaliser to force the replay at London Road. The winners of the replay will earn a trip to Reading in the fifth round.
Albion face an injury crisis ahead of the match and are down to the bare bones. There could be just 3 fit defenders while loan signings Alex Pritchard and Sandro are ineligible for the tie.
Here’s our predicted/hopeful XI.
Formation 3-5-2.
GK - Ben Foster
A no brainer in goal. Our best keeper than we have at the club and will look to be keeping a clean sheet. May have his work cut out with a makeshift defence.
RCB - Christian Gamboa
Who? One of only 3 fully fit defenders and deserves at least, one chance in the squad.
CB - James Chester
Has yet to have a real run in his natural position as a centre back. A good performance tonight could see him feature more in the first team with the injuries.
LCB - Sebastien Pocognoli
Looks like he’s on his last chance at Albion after a couple of poor performances. Only gets in due to being fit.
RM - Stephane Sessegnon
Simply has to start. The most creative midfielder at the club and would fancy his chances against a League One defence.
CM - Claudio Yacob
Will feel the pressure after Sandro came in on loan. Good chance for him to put in a big performance to try keep him out of the squad.
CM - Darren Fletcher
Will be crucial if Albion go with a back 3. Can either sit infront of the defence or play infront of the other 2 centre midfeilders.
CM - Craig Gardner
Very similar to Yacob and Fletcher but needs to be done tonight because of his defensive abilities.
LM - James McClean
One fo the signings of the season for Albion. Like Sess on the other wing could have a field day if he gets the beating of his full back.
ST - Saido Berahino
Already announced he’s involved with the squad on his Twitter. Needs a run of games afetr deciding to stay in january.
ST - Salomon Rondon
It’s the front 2 we’ve wanted all season. Berahino and Rondon upfront could become a deadly partnership given the right playing time.
