The Baggies moved 11 points clear of the bottom three with a thrilling 3-2 win over Crystal Palace at The Hawthorns.
Craig Gardner opened the scoring for West Brom after Salomon Rondon’s shot was parried by Wayne Hennessey.
Craig Dawson then headed home Gardner’s free-kick before Saido Berahino made it three inside 31 minutes with a fine volleyed finish from Stephane Sessegnon’s perfect ball.
The match was certainly a game of two halves and Palace hit back when Connor Wickham made the most of a Jonas Olsson error.
The visitors had two penalty appeals turned down before Wickham smashed in his second to make for a nervy end, but Albion held on for a second consecutive victory.
Here are five things we found from the enthralling match.
Saido Berahino
A day after he issued a public apology to the fans, Berahino showed what the side have been missing in what was an excellent performance from the 22-year-old.
His pace and movement benefitted the team massively, and he was unfortunate not to add to his brilliant first-half volley.
It is great to see him enjoying his football again; hopefully we will see more displays like that for the remainder of the season.
Jeremy Peace will have a tough decision to make in the summer as a number of clubs will once again be after him, but his goals are vital for the Baggies.
The fact that his contract is running out soon will make Peace’s decision even harder.
Craig Gardner
The midfielder is often criticised by the Albion faithful but he is starting to become a useful player.
His willingness to play in any position in the midfield is a bonus for Tony Pulis, and he will always put in a good shift for the side.
He may not have the attacking spark of Sessegnon or James McClean, but he is one of West Brom’s most reliable players.
Gardner was instrumental in the win, scoring and getting an assist, as well as making two goal-line clearances.
Attack a joy to watch
The front three of Rondon, Berahino and Sessegnon gave the Palace defence a torrid time for the whole 90 minutes.
Their link-up play was excellent and it is not something West Brom fans have seen much of this season.
However, when they click, they are a dangerous prospect. Albion’s third goal highlighted how well the trio played together.
Perhaps Tony Pulis is not one-dimensional
The way the team played was certainly a surprise but it showed that Pulis can play another style of football.
The match also showed that Albion do have the players to play exciting football.
With the Baggies edging closer to survival, the supporters will hopefully be treated to more entertaining matches like the performance against Palace.
Fans show class
Chris Brunt was certainly given the reception he deserved and it showed how much he is loved by the fans.
His awful week was worsened by being stretchered off, but the standing ovation underlined how much the Albion faithful support him.
The collection for his two chosen charities was an also excellent idea.
