Championship side Derby County are set to beat West Brom to the signing of Tom Huddlestone from Hull City.
According to the Daily Mail, Derby are set to activate a £2m relegation release clause in Huddlestone’s contract to bring him to the IPro.
The report claims that both West Brom and Newcastle were considering moves for Huddlestone, but Derby appear to have beaten both of them to clinch a deal.
If there is serious interest from West Brom they still have the right to match Derby’s offer and hope they can give him a better deal than Derby are willing to.
West Brom signed midfielder Jake Livermore from Hull last season, who was Huddlestone’s midfield partner at Tottenham and Hull – with the possibility of them linking up for the third time.
The 30-year-old midfielder looks set to leave Hull after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.
