West Brom are closing in on the signing of Ahmed Hegazy from Egyptian side Al Ahly.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, West Brom are nearing a move for the defender, who looks set to join the Baggies this summer.

Tony Pulis is looking to sign another central defender and it was reported this week that Andrea Ranocchia was set to join in a £5m deal.

However, Di Marzio claims that this is not the case and that Ranocchia is unlikely to sign for West Brom.

The Inter Milan defender spent last season on loan to Premier League side Hull City and has been linked with Huddersfield.

Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma was also touted with a switch to The Hawthorns but that move fizzled out after West Brom baulked at his £8m loan fee.

Hegazy is thought to be joining West Brom on a loan deal, with the club having an option to buy at the end of the season.
