Now that the transfer window has been slammed shut, we now know which players Tony Pulis and his team of coaches will be working with.
For me this is probably the best Premier League transfer window the club has had. The board got plenty of stick over the summer but a lot of the Albion faithful have been made to eat their words, as they have definitely delivered this time.
Not only did we make some superb additions, in Jonny Evans and Nacer Chadli we also managed to keep hold of two of our best players.
Taking that into consideration, I have picked what I believe to now be the club’s strongest starting line-up. I’ve gone for Pulis’ favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, so take a look and see if you agree!
GK: Ben Foster
No brainer.
RB: Allan Nyom
Nyom has been brilliant in his favoured right back position so far this this season and I would be very surprised if Pulis went and replaced him.
CB: Craig Dawson
Much like Nyom, Dawson has looked the business playing in his favoured position and I fully expect him to be deployed there for the foreseeable future.
CB: Jonny Evans
Keeping hold of our skipper was vital as, even though some of the possible replacements were very talented players, none were as good as the much coveted Northern Irishman.
LB: Kieran Gibbs
Left back issue well and truly resolved. Gibbs is a superb addition and will undoubtedly slot effortlessly into our back four.
DM: Gareth Barry
Eyebrows were raised when the club brought in the 36-year-old veteran but he’s been immense in the games he’s played so far and looks a real classy performer.
DM: Grzegorz Krychowiak
What a signing! The big Pole is probably the first name on the team sheet now after his surprise loan move from PSG. Still can’t believe the club managed to bag him.
RM: Matt Phillips
The Scotland international is an important player for the club due to his superb crossing ability and eye for goal.
LM: Oliver Burke
I hope Pulis throws Burke straight into the mix as he has the potential to cause even the league’s best defenders a serious headache. Real exciting prospect.
CAM: Nacer Chadli
I hope the reason Pulis hasn’t played Chadli as of yet is due to all the transfer speculation surrounding him. On his day, he’s a match winner who’s arguably our most technically gifted player.
ST: Jay Rodriguez
Another top signing made by the club but needs to be deployed centrally for me in order to get the best out of him.
