West Brom earned a valuable point on the road at Anfield as they held Jurgen Klopp’s men to a 0-0 draw.
The Baggies sit outside of the bottom three on goal difference after both Crystal Palace and West Ham picked up points during the week.
The result will undoubtedly be a confidence booster as Alan Pardew prepares to welcome Manchester United to the Hawthorns on Sunday.
Here’s how we rated each player’s performance on Wednesday night.
Ben Foster - 7
There were questions over the time he was taking during the game but Foster made a number of impressive saves to keep West Brom in the match.
Allan Nyom - 7
Contained Liverpool’s wide players very well and gave the little space to manoeuvre in.
Jonny Evans - 7
Evans was solid at the back and it was easy to see why he is attracting attention from other clubs.
Ahmed Hegazi - 8
Hegazi was a rock at the back for Pardew. His performances have gone under the radar this season but he was one Albion’s best players on Wednesday night.
Kieran Gibbs - 7
Gibbs didn’t offer much going forward with Albion up against it, but he held his own defensively.
Jake Livermore - 7
It was a typical Livermore performance at Anfield. He was relentless and put himself about in attempt to win the ball back for the Baggies.
Claudio Yacob - 6.5
Like Livermore, Yacob was clearly told to put himself about and make things difficult for Liverpool, that’s exactly what he did.
Grzegorz Krychowiak - 7
Krychowiak came back into the side on Wednesday and impressed when given the chance. The change in management could bring the best out of him.
James McClean - 6
With Albion soaking up a lot of pressure there was not a lot of support in the final third so McClean was unable to impact the game.
Hal Robson-Kanu - 6
Had arguably West Brom’s best chance with an effort that hit the crossbar, but like McClean, it was always going to be difficult for the attackers in games like this.
Salomon Rondon - 6
Rondon suffered a similar fate with a lack of service or any real support. He did his best given the circumstances but he offered very little.
Subs:
Jay Rodriguez – 5, Came off the bench, worked hard and put the pressure on the Liverpool defence.
Chris Brunt – 5, Didn’t do a lot late in the game.
