West Brom’s Premier League status remains under threat after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Southampton at the Hawthorns.

The result against the fellow relegation candidates leaves Albion firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and four points off Safety.

The afternoon did start well for West Brom. Ahmed Hegazi put Albion ahead after four minutes with a header from a Chris Brunt corner.

Mario Lemina equalised for Southampton before Jack Stephens put the Saints ahead just before halftime.

James Ward-Prowse then added a third goal after the restart, scoring from a free kick. Salomon Rondon scored a consolation goal for Albion in the 72nd minute, but were unable to score an equaliser.

Daniel Sturridge was handed a full West Brom debut but was unable to help Albion to some vital points in this relegation six-pointer.
