Jay Rodriguez eager to return to Burnley
West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez wants to return to his former club Burnley this summer, according to a report on the Daily Mail.
The Baggies have rejected a £12 million offer from the Clarets for Rodriguez, but it is understood that the forward is eager to return to Turf Moor.
The Englishman began his career with Burnley, where his form earned him a £7 million move to Southampton.
Rodriguez was one of the most prolific goalscorers in the country five years ago and his form was recognised internationally, with England awarding him with a call-up to the national team squad.
However, a long-term injury meant that all his good work was undone and now that he is back to full fitness, he’s eager to continue playing Premier League football.
Burnley are also looking to add depth to their squad as they begin their European journey this summer in the Europa League, with Sean Dyche identifying Rodriguez as a key target.
The 28-year-old was one of the bright sparks for the Baggies in what was a very disappointing season as he found the net seven times, but it wasn’t enough to save his side from relegation.
