Burnley could spend a club-record sum in their efforts to sign Jay Rodriguez from West Brom this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The Clarets are determined to recruit Rodriguez, with Sean Dyche having identified him as the club’s top target ahead of next season, and they’re apparently willing to spend up to £18 million on signing him.
Rodriguez has only been at West Brom for one season following his £12m move from Southampton last summer but following the club’s relegation to the Championship, it’s believed that he wants an immediate return to top-flight football.
It’s claimed by the Daily Mail that although Rodriguez will not attempt to force an exit from the Hawthorns, he does remain intent on playing Premier League football next term, with Burnley seemingly the likely destination.
Rodriguez is no stranger to Turf Moor, with the Englishman having played for the club until he secured a move to Southampton in 2012 in a £6m deal.
