West Brom have seen their £3m bid for Rangers defender James Tavernier rejected, according to Sky Sports News.

The report claims that West Brom’s offer has been turned down for Tavernier, but Rangers have not closed the door on a potential deal for the defender.

Rangers have a valuation of the right-back and will be willing to let him leave if West Brom decide to match it – although the report does not say how much Rangers value Tavernier at.

West Brom are keen to add a new right-back to their squad on a permanent basis before Thursday’s 5pm deadline, with another offer for Tavernier possibly on the way shortly.

The club are able to sign players on loan until the end of August, but West Brom would prefer to sign a defender permanently.

Tavernier is the current Rangers captain and impressed in Scotland over the course of the 2018/19 campaign.
