West Brom continued their goalscoring run by putting seven past a lacklustre Queens Park Rangers side at the Hawthorns this afternoon.
The Baggies put in a sensational performance to dispatch of the R’s, who looked poor from start to finish.
Matt Phillips opened the scoring in the 29th minute for Albion, before QPR levelled not long after through Joel Lynch.
It was all Albion from there though, with Kieran Gibbs putting the Baggies back in front just after half time.
Jay Rodriguez netted from the spot minutes later, his first of the afternoon, before Dwight Gayle added a fourth for Albion.
Albion’s fifth of the afternoon came in the 82nd minute, with Rodriguez scoring from the spot again. Matt Phillips then scored the sixth in the 88th minute, before Hal Robson Kanu scored the final goal in stoppage time.
Here’s how we rated the Baggies on a great afternoon for the Albion faithful.
Sam Johnstone - 8
Was hardly troubled, but still put in a solid performance.
Tosin Adarabioyo -8
Good performance from the Man City youngster.
Kyle Bartley - 8
Solid defensive effort at the back from Bartley.
Ahmed Hegazi - 7
A little shaky at times, but Hegazi and the Albion defence kept the lacklustre QPR at bay frot he majority of the game.
Kieran Gibbs - 8
Got on the scoresheet, and was good again for the Albion.
Matt Phillips - 10
Superb performance from the winger, who really showed why many Premier League clubs were chasing him this Summer. Scored two and was a real threat going forward for Albion.
Jake Livermore - 8
Livermore again great for Albion, with another solid performance from the midfield.
Chris Brunt - 6
Albion’s worst player on the pitch, but considering the result that’s hardly an awful thing. Was subbed for Gareth Barry in the second half.
Harvey Barnes - 8
Superb again for Albion. Looks a great loan signing for the promotion campaign.
Jay Rodriguez - 10
Great again, and his two penalty finishes vital for the win.
Dwight Gayle - 8
Opened his account for Albion, and was a threat all game.
Gareth Barry – 7
James Morrison – 6
Hal Robson Kanu – 7
