West Brom loanee Salomon Rondon is unlikely to complete a permanent move to Newcastle in the summer.

According to a report from Chronicle Live, as cited on Shields Gazette, the Premier League side are set to consider other targets, with Rondon failing to impress so far.

Rondon has been unable to get his Newcastle career off the ground so far this season, making just four starts so far.

The Venezuelan has been hampered by injury problems, which have cast doubts over the possibility of a permanent move to Newcastle.

West Brom have certainly come off as the better side in the deal, with Dwight Gayle scoring for fun in the Championship with the Baggies.

The Magpies have been short of goals in the final third this season and are likely to dip into the January market to sign another striker.

It is yet to be seen if Rondon has a future at West Brom, but that could be dependent on whether or not they secure promotion.
