West Brom loanee forward Dwight Gayle claims he has seriously considered making his short-term Albion deal permanent when his loan expires.
The 28-year old striker is currently on a season-long loan at the Hawthorns from Newcastle United, having joined last summer when Salomón Rondón moved in the opposite direction.
Gayle has scored nine goals in 14 Championship games so far this season, and this run of form has seemingly done enough to convince the former Crystal Palace man that the Midlands would be the best place for him to be.
Talking about potentially making his loan move permanent, Gayle told to Birmingham Live:
Yeah of course it’s crossed my mind.
It’s something that will be on the cards, but I suppose I’ve just got to get this season out of the way and let others get on with what they’ve got to do.
We’ll see how things go. I’m very happy playing my football here and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
Anything could happen at the end of the season, we’ve just got to wait and see.
Given how poor the Magpies have been in front of goal this season, Gayle could well prove to be an important player for the club in the future, and the Tyneside outfit hold all of the cards.
