Rangers wanted Harper in exchange for Tavernier
Rangers wanted West Brom youth product Rekeem Harper on loan, if they were going to let James Tavernier leave for the Baggies in the summer.
Darren Moore’s side were heavily linked with a move for the Rangers’ skipper at the end of the transfer window, but a deadline day effort failed to see a deal pushed through.
The right-back ultimately stayed in Glasgow.
Harper is one of the most exciting prospects currently on the books at The Hawthorns, having spent time on loan at Blackburn last season.
First team opportunities under Tony Mowbray were limited, however.
Having made just four appearances, Baggies fans will have to hope Harper has returned having learnt some valuable lessons on the training ground.
At the age of 18, it seems there is no great rush to find him regular minutes at a high level.
The Express and Star claim that West Brom are seeking to sign Harper to a new deal, keeping him in the West Midlands for the foreseeable future.
