West Brom want more contract talks after Livermore deal
Following on from midfielder Jake Livermore putting pen-to-paper on a new deal at The Hawthorns on Friday morning, West Bromwich Albion are keen to tie down more players to new contracts, the Express and Star reports.
The 29-year-old has been a key player for Darren Moore’s side so far this season and has now penned a new three-and-a-half year contract that ties him to the club until 2022.
Following the announcement, Baggies technical director Luke Dowling has revealed that he keen to see other players also commit their futures to the club.
It’s good sense for the club. We are trying to rebuild after relegation and he (Livermore) is one of the key figures for us going forward. This will take him through the peak years of his career.
He conducts himself around the training ground in an exemplary manner which offers a good example to our younger players.
We will be looking to extend with some of our other players but it is good that we have several senior players on relatively long-term contracts.
Midfielder Rekeem Harper, whose contract runs out in the summer, and Matt Phillips, who has just 18 months left on his deal at The Hawthorns, are likely to be next to put pen-to-paper on new deals with the club.
